 Individual Counseling Services

A
nnesia Counseling offers the client confidential counseling. Each client will be valued and treated with respect. The client will complete the intake form at the initial visit. The most important part of the counseling session is allowing the client to tell his/her story. This will help the counselor to better understand the client's individuality, as well as helping the client gain insight. The goal of the counseling session will be focused on listening and exploration of possible alternative solutions that will meet the clients' needs bringing about change. Sessions are  50 minutes with 10 minutes for wrap up.

Pre-Marital Counseling

Sessions: 6-8 sessions
Marriage is a covenant, a life long process that can be enjoyed when the foundations are stable. Statistics document the high rate of divorces but this does not have to be. After all, when two parties are joined together from different upbringings conflict is inevitable; but it does not have to end in divorce. Dr Norma feels that Premarital Counseling can iron out the differences prior to marriage by expending time and energy on understanding each others' personality, differences, and mutual expectations. These sessions allow each individual to be proactive, while learning the skills of problem solving to enhance a long lasting, happy healthy marriage. During the Premarital preparation some topics that are addressed are:

  • Communication
  • Individual Expectations
  • Parenting
Values (Sexuality, Money, Religion)

Prior to the first session, couples are asked to complete  'The Marriage Questionnaire' which provides data needed for planning intervention. It also allows both individuals to process the information prior and bring any questions they might have. It is recommended that each person work individually which will give the counselor a good indication of how much knowledge each partner has of the other.

Marriage Counseling

Sessions: 8-10 sessions.
Marriage is meant to last forever, it is like a covalent bond that attracts and shares. Marriage counseling helps to enhance and strengthen the ties. Relationship in marriage lasts when there is mutual trust, honesty, and open communication. Never let the first love die, but continue to strengthen your love by openly confessing to each other when there is misunderstanding. "Keep the romance through caring and thoughtfulness."
